this annual provision of funds was not required, and in

the Estimates for 1907 no provision for the maintenance of

auch Hospitals was made beyond a sum of $2,000 under Grants-

-in-Aid of Charitable Institutions.

I consider the object which the

Petitioners have in view a most deserving one, and I

recommend that the area shewn coloured red on the attached

plan be granted in trust to the Petitioners free of

premium and crown rent for use as a Chinese District Plague

Hospital and for so long as it is used for such purpose.

The value of the land is as

follows:-

Capitalized at 7 per centum (14 years purchase)
